Alan J. Denis is Chairman Emeritus of the Firm. Over his long career, spanning more than forty years, he has consulted with business and individual clients in matters of domestic and international tax planning, wealth transfer, succession planning and tax controversy. He has broad experience in taxation and has had extensive exposure to many industries.At Morison Cogen LLP, Mr. Denis served as Chair of the Tax Services Group and later as Chairman of the Firm. Previously, he was a tax partner and tax department head at a “Big Four” accounting firm and another national firm for many years.
He holds an A.B. degree from Franklin & Marshall College (Government) and a J.D. degree from Fordham Law School. Mr. Denis also attended the N.Y.U. Stern School of Business graduate program.
Mr. Denis participated in Morison International, Limited as a global Board member, as a director of Morison International Latin America and was active in the MI’s International Tax Group. He was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He remains active in the Philadelphia Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the Philadelphia Estate Planning Council.
Mr. Denis is a member of the Union League of Philadelphia and is President and a Trustee of the Abraham J. Cohen Family Charitable Foundation, Inc.
As a licensed attorney, Mr. Denis separately engages in the private practice of law. His bar admissions include Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, the U.S. Tax Court and the U.S. Supreme Court.
